Portable Sound Energy Demonstration Kit for Science Experiments
Sound waves have been the subject of long-term research in classical physics, revealing various oscillation, fluctuation, and transmission characteristics of general longitudinal waves. The phenomenon of acoustic levitation has been widely applied in the fields of metal non-contact levitation melting and crystal levitation growth.
1, Principle
A single frequency sound wave propagates inside a resonant cavity, and its incident and reflected waves are coherent to form a standing wave. The amplitude of the standing wave exhibits a periodic distribution of maximum, zero, and then maximum relative to the spatial position inside the resonant cavity, and the distance between adjacent maximum or zero values is half the wavelength of the sound wave. When the length of the sound wave resonant cavity is exactly an integer multiple of the sound wave, resonance occurs; Under the condition of constant wave source intensity and frequency, a stable standing wave phenomenon is generated inside the resonant cavity. A sphere is placed at a certain position inside the resonant cavity, and when it is subjected to enough pressure difference between its upper and lower surfaces to overcome its own gravity, the sphere will be suspended.
